New Blog

Hey dolls

I know I haven't posted anything in a long time, but it's not because I've just decided to abandon blogging. I feel like this blog doesn't really define me as a person anymore and it's time to move on. I'm working on a new blog now,  although it's not up and running yet. But I just wanted to take the time out and say thank you to all the people who have been following me these past years, commenting and just supporting me in general. I just jumped into the blogging world not knowing and anything or what I would get out of it and I can honestly say I've learned so much and I don't regret starting my fashion diaries. So once again thank you.

Fashionably yours,

Summer Nights

There's just something about summer nights that makes everything seem so different.
It's as if there's something new waiting for you and summer is there to help you figure it out.
More days to spend at the beach and hang out with friends.
School is over and so much free time left on our hands to do whatever we wish we had time to do during the school year whether it's to travel half way around the world or discover something new. Summer nights are just...ahh...no word can really describe it.

Summer Nights
It seems that people seem to have more confidence, too. No more having to layer up in big bulky jackets. There's is more freedom. I know I shop for summer clothes year round and when summer comes I cannot wait to jump into my new outfits.

Recently, I bought these sunglasses from H&M:
I haven't worn them yet, but hope to soon.

At my senior award banquet, last weekend I also debut these wedges. These were pretty high and I've never worn wedges before, not that I remember.

IMG_20130704_183846_0.jpg

I also bought this blue floral dress. It's from Forever 21. And mind you I rarely wear dresses, but lately I've found this new born confidence in me to try new things.

I really think it has to do with the beginning of these summer nights.

I'm definitely ready for these summer nights and even though I'm still nervous, I'm ready to start college with this new sense of confidence and style. I remember not to long ago, I was a sneakers and jeans kind of girl. Now here I am buying wedges and dresses.

But, this is not the only reason I'm ready for these summer nights. I'm also leaving the country for the first time. I'm nervous, but it should be a good and new experience. My summer nights will be spent in Africa.

Where will you be spending your summer nights?

Summer Yellows with Solange

Summer Yellows with Solange

As the sun sets, day and night fight for a share of the summer sky. They agree on an equal share for a period of time and what you have is a beautiful navy ombre scenery that merges with bright yellow remainder of the remnants from the hot summer rays of that morning.

But, they don't only fight for a share in the summer sky, but also in Solange Knowles' outfit and it seems more like yellow is winning. Solange wears yellow a lot, but she doesn't fail to incorporate the navy blue color.

Okay, so let's be honest, I was never of fan of yellow. In fact, I hated it, being that I had to wear the color for three long years in middle school as my uniform. But, yellow is a perfect color for accessories on a late summer night out with the girls.

My favorite accessory is the Steve Madden shoulder bag. You'll always be sure to get noticed with that pop of color and look like a celebrity ( and no one will know you're on a budget)

What's your summer color?

We Found Love with Rihanna's Collection

Lately, I've been so busy, getting ready to wrap up my senior year. I chose my school. I really wanted to leave NYC and explore other cities, but I'm going to stay here. I don't think I'm going to regret it at all. People always say that when you leave NY and go to another city, you won't find anything that can match up to it. And I found that true when I went to Atlanta. So for now I guess its NYC baby!

I've also found my prom dress (still debating whether I should go lol), my dress for the senior trip dance and my graduation dress. But, I still have to prepare for my AP test coming up. But, still I feel that although there's all this craziness, I've always managed to find some time to take a breather, relax and listen to some music like. . . you know, some Rihanna. Her song Stay has been on repeat on many radio stations, maybe that was a sign that I should STAY in NY ;)

Rihanna is one of my favorite singers, but she's adding more to her resume than that. Maybe, you've heard that she's been making major moves in the fashion world with her clothing collection River Island, which she recently launched. She was even a part of Fashion Week. But, now she's decided to branch out into not only the music industry and fashion industry, but also the beauty industry.
Rihanna's River Island collection

Rihanna has her own exclusive line of makeup for MAC Cosmetics! She posted this sneak peek of her new collection on Instagram:

rihanna makeup
I just adore the packaging. So cute!!

The collection is centered around the new shade of lipstick called "RiRi Woo," which is inspired by her favorite MAC lipstick, Ruby Woo (a deep red color).

"RiRi Hearts MAC" Collection will debuts today (May 4) as her "Diamonds" world tour ends in Brooklyn, NY. Woot, woot, right here in my hometown lol. NYC!

For those of you that go to the concert at the Barclay's Center today (May 4), there will be a pop-up shop dedicated to showcasing Rihanna's new line!

I need to get something from her collection. I love the packaging in itself. And the actual makeup would be perfect for when I decide to go to prom hmm...

What's Juicy? Suit Shorts

R.5766-Blogger style: Sincerely, Jules

I'm always hearing about new, strange and interesting styles. One of them includes this blazer and short combo. It's not strange, but it is interesting. I say it's perfect for this cool spring weather that's coming on. It's cute, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for a professional place.

I would wear this probably for a night out with girls (But, too bad I'm not allowed to wear shorts). But, then again, maybe it's too much.

How would you wear it?

Lazy Day

Thank gosh that this college process is finally wrapping up. Between school, work, the application process, college classes, scholarship searches, I've barely had time to even sleep. I'm so happy it's finally spring break. Well, I have to admit it's not really a break, being that I have to go to work and attend school for two days during this break, but still I'll try to make the most of it because I seriously need a break.

A wise man named Bruno Mars once said this.
*singing* Today, I don't feel like doing anything. I just wanna stay in my bed. Don't feel like picking up the phone, so leave a message at the tone...*singing*

The little birdies left their footprints in the snow.
Lately, I've been so tired and remember when I was wishing for a snow day? Yea, I'm over it. It's snowed a few times this March, which is pretty weird. You know it's Spring now, but it's still cold outside. So I'm still sporting my jacket, scarf and boots. But, I'm really getting tired of trying to dress up. I'm having those lazy days.

I always have those days where I have to go somewhere, but I don't want to really dress up.
Sometimes, I'll be sitting and watching TV, just chilling and my mom will tell me to go to the store for her. I'll get annoyed, but not because I don't want to go, but instead because I have to think of an outfit to wear. I'm not one of those people that just walk outside in pajamas and slippers. I feel uncomfortable because I like to dress to impress.

So I've discovered that I don't really have to worry about finding a whole new outfit to leave my house with. I can dress up my T-shirt (which is what I usually wear at home with some sweats). During the cold seasons, all you have to do is layer (like what I'm doing in the picture above), whether you add a scarf, a necklace or a cardigan. During the hot seasons, you can just tuck your T-shirt into your jeans, capris, or skirt and add an accessory. No one will notice your lazy day. You'll just look casual.

Even these celebrities have their lazy days, but manage to look cute.
Selena just added a necklace to her T-shirt, while Rihanna tucked her shirt into her jeans. Solange just added  a blazer. There are so many ways to go about dressing up a T-shirt.

Here are some fabulous looks I put together for inspiration for your lazy days:

Dressing Up a T-Shirt #3
For a casual day, when you're just hanging out with friends, pair these accessories up.

Dressing Up A T-Shirt #2
Attending a party? Nice accessories and hot heels are perfect for this T-shirt. No one would ever even remember you were wearing a T-shirt.

Dressing Up A T-Shirt #1
You don't even have to remain casual with a T-shirt. You can dress it up with a blazer and nice pants. This could be a good interview look that's not over the top.

So what do you usually wear on your I-don't-feel-like-doing-anything days?

Raves and Rants: Dress Shopping

Rants

Dress shopping is more difficult than I thought.
So, there's four months to go before graduation, prom and senior trip. I thought that after clicking the submit button on my applications, I would be done with everything. But, no guess what, this is just the beginning. There's so much more to do. And even the minor things, like shopping for dresses seem like a lot. I went dress shopping recently  And guess what I came home with? Nothing. I didn't know how difficult it was to buy a dress. Everything I liked my mother disliked and what I liked she disliked. And when I actually did find a dress to satisfy both of our needs it was in about $300. I was not going to spend $300 for something I would only wear one day.

Raves

I told my supervisor at work about my whole dress shopping dilemma and she recommended Rent the Runway to me. Have you ever heard of renting dresses before? I know I haven't. I've only heard of renting tuxedos.

But, Rent the Runway is a website where you can rent designer gowns for about a week. They have so many brands, styles and sizes to choose from. Some of the dresses are similar to those that celebrities have worn. And you can rent these dresses for low prices like $50.

You can wear these dresses for any occasion. They're not just for prom and graduation, but other special events, also. And don't worry about cleaning the dress when you're done, they take care of the dry cleaning. Just enjoy the occasion.

So would you rent a dress?

Fashion Inspiration: Going Out West

Most of the time where we live defines our style. And that's why I've always wanted to travel and experience new places and learn how their location defines their style. One place I've always imagined myself is in California. Don't get me wrong, I still love New York. But I also adore Kendall and Kylie Jenner's collection  at Pacsun.

These girls were born and raised in the golden state of California, so they can definitely represent for Cali teens and their fashionable attire. California seems like a place where it Spring or Summer all year round, so as New York starts to transition, that''s where I'll be getting my inspiration from.

Their collection is filled with casual yet chic pieces from accessories to outerwear.

I love the necklace, bandeau top and jeans. They're so fab.

Here are a few pieces I just adore from their new collection:

Sweater Jacket
I really love this sweater jacket, especially the color.  Her hair piece also adds a tribal/boho feel.

House Dress
They say every girl needs a little black dress, so here's one for you. I love the collar  that they added to this dress.

Here's how you can wear it:

Going Out West
Some pieces from the collection are pretty pricey, so if you're on a budget, this is for you. But if you rather shop from the collection, it's available now at Pacsun.

Amira Says...RED (V-Day Special)

I can honestly say I was never a fan of the color red, but lately its been growing on me. After all it is a bold and powerful color and with Valentine's Day around the corner, it also represents love (although it should always represent love year round). So I'm celebrating this Valentine's Day with RED.

Repeat this several times. I love quotes and I think that this one is perfect for Valentine's Day. Whether you're in love or not, we can be blinded by things whether its a friendship or situation where we don't notice how bad it was until we're on the outside looking in. So treat yourself to something special and love yourself before you give others what you can't give yourself.

→I'm your national anthem god you're so handsome take me to the hamptons bugatti veyron ♪

Even though many of winter days are just- bleh with grey skys, I decided to go bold with this red jacket reminding me that Spring is not too far off. After all the ground hog said so even though there was snow outside on this particular day.

Don't judge them. They have caused a lot of controversy lately with their relationship. But regardless of what happened in the past I've always loved them together and never gave up hope. I'm glad they're back together. And they look really happy. And by no means am I saying to return to a situation where you're having issues and you don't feel good about it (that's what the quote was for ^). But I believe that if you find a way to solve the problem and overcome everything and end up happy in the end that's what really matters.
Doesn't Rihanna look radiant and gorgeous at the Grammys (One of the only reasons I watched)?

Chasing the Saturdays

A new show, I've discovered on E! called Chasing the Saturdays is a must watch.
With the little time, I've had in watching TV between homework assignments, work, school clubs, college stuff and life in general, I've discovered a new show. And it's uh-mazing. I don't know why but I have a thing for reality TV shows. I think I saw this show by accident. It's just happened to be on and I started watching it and now I can't stop. It's called Chasing the Saturdays.

Although, they're different in their own way, they fit together like puzzle pieces to make one.
The show follows the lives of English-Irish girl band The Saturdays. The members include Rochelle Humes, Frankie Sandford, Molly King, Una Healy, and Vanessa White.

I love their looks.
I love their style: girly spunk. I especially adore Frankie's pixie hairdo. I'm actually considering cutting my hair. I'm terrified though. But, I would really love to try something similar to Frankie's.

Just like the day of the week (Saturday), I look forward to this show when I need a break from my busy life.
These girls are not afraid to have fun with life and have bright personalities. But, they still remain passionate when it comes to their music. I guess that's what really draws me to the show. And their style.

Don't forget to like Fashion Diaries' new facebook page and follow me on twitter (links in sidebar)!
