Raves and Rants: Dress Shopping

Rants

Dress shopping is more difficult than I thought.
So, there's four months to go before graduation, prom and senior trip. I thought that after clicking the submit button on my applications, I would be done with everything. But, no guess what, this is just the beginning. There's so much more to do. And even the minor things, like shopping for dresses seem like a lot. I went dress shopping recently  And guess what I came home with? Nothing. I didn't know how difficult it was to buy a dress. Everything I liked my mother disliked and what I liked she disliked. And when I actually did find a dress to satisfy both of our needs it was in about $300. I was not going to spend $300 for something I would only wear one day.

Raves

I told my supervisor at work about my whole dress shopping dilemma and she recommended Rent the Runway to me. Have you ever heard of renting dresses before? I know I haven't. I've only heard of renting tuxedos.

But, Rent the Runway is a website where you can rent designer gowns for about a week. They have so many brands, styles and sizes to choose from. Some of the dresses are similar to those that celebrities have worn. And you can rent these dresses for low prices like $50.

You can wear these dresses for any occasion. They're not just for prom and graduation, but other special events, also. And don't worry about cleaning the dress when you're done, they take care of the dry cleaning. Just enjoy the occasion.

So would you rent a dress?

Cut- It Out

With the summer days soon coming to an end, it's time to finish soaking up some sun with a little peekaboo effect to your clothing. Cut-outs have been a big trend this season, so why not finish it off with some shoulder slits and shape cut outs? So as school starts take out your scissors and snip, snip!

Paper Snowflake Blue Dress
This paper snowflake blue dress is perfect for a summer into fall transition and a night out.I love the royal blue color and the cut outs on the sleeve of the dress, around the neckline and at the bottom of the dress. The geometric peekaboo designs are fabulous. You can find this dress at Lulu's.

Bongo Junior's Slub Colorblock Top at Kmart.com
This Bongo colorblock shirt with a lattice design is sure to stand out in a crowd. Lately I've really been interested in clothing that don't have the regular horizontal and vertical design. I've been looking at interesting diagonal designs. You would know if you saw my polka dot and stripes entry and saw my fabulous find from Brooklyn Industries. You get this fabulous find from Kmart.

Bongo Junior's Distressed Cuff Capri Jeans at Sears.com
Ripped denim capris are sure to help you show some skin before the fall hits us. Distressed/ ripped denim will be a big trend this fall (especially denim). I love the way it looks especially if you have color jeans. I have an army camoflauge verison of this.

                                             Reverse Heart-Back Cutout Dress
This reverse heart back cut out dress is my favorite. For those of you who may not know I am an extreme bargain hunter. This dress is from Urban Outfitters which is an expensive store, but I found this dress for $20. I love the pattern and heart cut out. This dress comes in different patterns and colors.

Hearts & Bows Stud Shoulder T Shirt
This is a Hearts and Bows stud shoulder t-shirt from asos.com. For any who is familiar with this brand you would know that they are about vintage style pieces and creating a cool, street-style grunge girl look. So if you're into this style this would be a perfect classic look for you where you don't have to show too much skin.

I don't know about you dolls, but I definitely plan to soak in the sun before, it gets replaced by a chilly wind.

My "What a Girl Wants" Weekly Wishlist

Yes, I know I can this my weekly wishlist and I don't actually do it weekly, but I still like the title so lets keep the w's and pretend that I do this every week.

I'm obsessed with Forever 21 for some reason, even though I've never actually bought anything there yet. But, this time I think that I actually will because I love this dress.

This is a white chiffon pleated dress and guess what, it's under $25 and it's not even on sale! I can just see myself wearing this light dress in the summer breeze. I also love the fact that it's white.

I showed my mom this dress and she laughed. I'm guessing because it's short (my parents don't appreciate short or extremely tight outfits). I told her I would wear this to my graduation next year and I would take it to a tailor to make it a little longer or maybe I can pair it with stockings (too bad the graduation would be in June and it would probably feel weird to wear sweaty and sticky stockings).

All well hopefully I can go to the city and after scouring the racks of Forever 21 I'll find the dress (and maybe it can also magically become longer than in the picture). Ugh, if only it wasn't for my parents. Don't you get annoyed feeling guilty because you feel or know that your parents won't be accepting of your outfits? I still want the dress. I just have to negotiate. Wish me luck!

My "What A Girl Wants" Weekly Wishlist

Well you know spring is here and it's time for shopping. You'll probably find me in the city soon. Maybe we'll even bump into eachother, although you won't know it's me. Right now I want some dresses. I'm really not a dress girl, but for some reason I just want some and so here's want I'll be looking for when I go shopping:

1.

2.

3.

4.

I just noticed a pattern in the dresses I want. They all have the same color scheme. I guess I'm setting the color trend for the season. Anyway enough about me. These dresses are all from Forever 21 and I j'adore(Translation in fashion diary lang.- just adore)them. Dress #1 is a casually glam dress for a low low price of $10.99Dress #2 is a taffeta petals dress for $34.80.Dress #3 is a voluminous rosette dress for $32.80. Dress #4 is a colorblock pleats dress and it is $22.80.Even though I tried to only look for dresses I could not resist the urge to look at some shoes to complete the look. Hey, it may not match but I still love these glittered gold stiletto heels for the cheap price of $24.80.
