Design It Yourself: Wire Wrapped Jeweled Necklace

Hello dahlings and dolls. If you didn't know this about me, I'll tell you now. I'm an ACCESSORY FREAK, seriously. I have tons and tons of necklaces and bracelets and earrings. But, I only have one problem. Out of those tons, I only wear a few key pieces. But, take me shopping and I'll grab any piece of accessory in sight. So when I saw this DIY project, I just had to share it with you.

wire wrapped jeweled necklace! (:

What you''ll need:
1 Bag of large plastic jewel stones
1 Sheet of plastic canvas
1 Yard of ribbon (local fabric store)
20 gauge wire
Pliers
Scissors
Glue (hot glue)

What to do:

Take your plastic canvas and an 8 inch plate.
Trace around the plate and cut out.
Cut inside your cut out circle to make a 1 inch thick ring.

Start glueing your stones to your plastic canvas. Mix up your colors and shapes. Keep adding until it’s all filled up.
Do not fill up your whole circle. I recommend only going up about half way, other wise it gets too stiff and you wont be able to put it around your neck.

Once you’ve finished glueing on all your stones, you can start wrapping your wire.
Start on the back side and tuck the end of your wire into your plastic canvas and crimp to hold.
Keep wrapping until you’ve wrapped the whole thing.

Take your ribbon and cut it in half.
Glue one end of each piece onto the back of your finished jeweled and wrapped necklace.

This necklace would be a beautiful addition to any girl's jewelry box. And these colors are perfect for the transition we're making from Summer to Autumn.

Amira Says . . . Fall Essentials

Happy Labor Day! You know what that means? Fall is on its way. Right now I'm inside and I can already feel the change in weather. So it's time to say our goodbyes to summer.

To help you let go of the summer feeling, I decided to hook you up by updating you with some Fall trends.

So get ready to jump and hear the crunch of colourful leaves.

Fall Essentials
I say these are your Fall Essentials. . .

LEATHER- I really love the way leather leggings look and the pants from Hot Topic make me love leather pants even more. I've always wanted a pair. Leather leggings may not be right for the chilly Fall weather, but those pants are just right.

PETER PAN COLLAR- We've all seen it. Not only has it been a trend in the past, but it will continue to be one in the Fall. Didn't Peter Pan take place in the Fall? Hmm. I'm not sure, but it did seem like it.

DENIM- Well, most of us if not all have some type of denim in our wardrobe. You couldn't call yourself a New Yorker, otherwise because denim is essential especially in the cold seasons. Plus, you have a wide variety to choose from when it comes to denim, whether you wear jeans, a jean jacket or shoes that have a denim fabric (like some Converses).

PEACOATS- I had a gray one last year, that I will for sure be wearing this year again. My mom was upset at the fact that I wore it everyday throughout the fall and winter. Mind you, it wasn't really meant for the winter because it wasn't that thick. But, hey, no one should get in between a girl and her peacoat.

TWEED- Tweed is a kind of fabric like the jacket above from Target. I've never owned anything tweed before and I never considered it, but it will be a big trend this season.

LACE- For all who know me, by now you should definitely know I have a lace obsession. Hint, Hint... a good belated birthday present to get me. Haha.

Cut- It Out

With the summer days soon coming to an end, it's time to finish soaking up some sun with a little peekaboo effect to your clothing. Cut-outs have been a big trend this season, so why not finish it off with some shoulder slits and shape cut outs? So as school starts take out your scissors and snip, snip!

Paper Snowflake Blue Dress
This paper snowflake blue dress is perfect for a summer into fall transition and a night out.I love the royal blue color and the cut outs on the sleeve of the dress, around the neckline and at the bottom of the dress. The geometric peekaboo designs are fabulous. You can find this dress at Lulu's.

Bongo Junior's Slub Colorblock Top at Kmart.com
This Bongo colorblock shirt with a lattice design is sure to stand out in a crowd. Lately I've really been interested in clothing that don't have the regular horizontal and vertical design. I've been looking at interesting diagonal designs. You would know if you saw my polka dot and stripes entry and saw my fabulous find from Brooklyn Industries. You get this fabulous find from Kmart.

Bongo Junior's Distressed Cuff Capri Jeans at Sears.com
Ripped denim capris are sure to help you show some skin before the fall hits us. Distressed/ ripped denim will be a big trend this fall (especially denim). I love the way it looks especially if you have color jeans. I have an army camoflauge verison of this.

                                             Reverse Heart-Back Cutout Dress
This reverse heart back cut out dress is my favorite. For those of you who may not know I am an extreme bargain hunter. This dress is from Urban Outfitters which is an expensive store, but I found this dress for $20. I love the pattern and heart cut out. This dress comes in different patterns and colors.

Hearts & Bows Stud Shoulder T Shirt
This is a Hearts and Bows stud shoulder t-shirt from asos.com. For any who is familiar with this brand you would know that they are about vintage style pieces and creating a cool, street-style grunge girl look. So if you're into this style this would be a perfect classic look for you where you don't have to show too much skin.

I don't know about you dolls, but I definitely plan to soak in the sun before, it gets replaced by a chilly wind.
