We Found Love with Rihanna's Collection

Lately, I've been so busy, getting ready to wrap up my senior year. I chose my school. I really wanted to leave NYC and explore other cities, but I'm going to stay here. I don't think I'm going to regret it at all. People always say that when you leave NY and go to another city, you won't find anything that can match up to it. And I found that true when I went to Atlanta. So for now I guess its NYC baby!

I've also found my prom dress (still debating whether I should go lol), my dress for the senior trip dance and my graduation dress. But, I still have to prepare for my AP test coming up. But, still I feel that although there's all this craziness, I've always managed to find some time to take a breather, relax and listen to some music like. . . you know, some Rihanna. Her song Stay has been on repeat on many radio stations, maybe that was a sign that I should STAY in NY ;)

Rihanna is one of my favorite singers, but she's adding more to her resume than that. Maybe, you've heard that she's been making major moves in the fashion world with her clothing collection River Island, which she recently launched. She was even a part of Fashion Week. But, now she's decided to branch out into not only the music industry and fashion industry, but also the beauty industry.
Rihanna's River Island collection

Rihanna has her own exclusive line of makeup for MAC Cosmetics! She posted this sneak peek of her new collection on Instagram:

rihanna makeup
I just adore the packaging. So cute!!

The collection is centered around the new shade of lipstick called "RiRi Woo," which is inspired by her favorite MAC lipstick, Ruby Woo (a deep red color).

"RiRi Hearts MAC" Collection will debuts today (May 4) as her "Diamonds" world tour ends in Brooklyn, NY. Woot, woot, right here in my hometown lol. NYC!

For those of you that go to the concert at the Barclay's Center today (May 4), there will be a pop-up shop dedicated to showcasing Rihanna's new line!

I need to get something from her collection. I love the packaging in itself. And the actual makeup would be perfect for when I decide to go to prom hmm...

Boy Meets bloglovin' Girl

Dear Diary

Living in NYC has probably made me love fashion more than anything else.

Walking the streets of NYC, you will find every kind of style. This might shock some new comers from other states or even countries. While every other NYC native passes by because this is the norm. But, then again I have to admit there are things that even I see and I must pause before I continue on my way But, this is something I admire. Being free to express yourself while having others not judge you.

I've seen clothing from across the world which inspire me along with other people I see on the streets, other bloggers, musicians and people like Betsey Johnson, Selena Gomez and Cher Lloyd.

I love Betsey Johnson's quirky, fun and young style. Selena Gomez is a classic, but she doesn't mind trying new things and mixing it up. Cher Lloyd is exactly like me though. She's girly, but always has that added edge to her outfit. People consider me a tomboy at times because I'm not afraid to wear my sneakers, but if you think about it I'm not afraid to admit that I like to wear dresses, too. I love that edgy yet classical and girly style.

Fashion is also my escape, something that I control because every other part of my life is dictated by adults like my parents. They don't believe in my dream, but I do. And I express it through the creativity and edge I add to my daily wardrobe.

Having fun with life and not letting the status quo stop you from it is what I find in fashion and what probably draws me to it. Whether it's adding menswear to your wardrobe or being quirky and spontaneous or showing your parents that your dreams matter (Don't get too crazy on this on though. You want a roof over your head for a few years don't you lol).

Fashion makes me believe the impossible is truly possible: taking risks, having fun and trying new things.

Dasher by Design

Dear Diary

Everytime a new show comes on that I might be interested in, I tell myself I'm gonna watch it. I said that with Vampire Diaries, but it seemed like every Thursday I had something to do and I eventually gave up. Like why would I wanna start watching a show in the middle of the season. I would be so confused.

When Jane by Design started, I said the same thing. But, again I was busy. And even though I hated watching shows in the middle of the season, I tried it with Jane by Design. It really wasn't that interesting. I thought it would be interesting because I was like I'm interested in fashion and this is about fashion, but it just didn't work out. And mind you, this was after watching for about 10 mins.

So I recently learned that the show was cancelled, I feel bad for the fans. But, now I know I wasn't the only one bored with it. The main character Jane, whose real name is Erica Dasher seems to have gotten over the ending of the show because she has big things planned. Film-making and fashion are on the list for the next stage of her life.

Erica is a huge thrift shopper. Don't you think it's crazy that she prefers Goodwill over H&M? Well, I don't. I mean it makes sense. At Goodwill, you find one of a kind. At H&M, they have millions of the same shirt across the country.

I would actually love to try thrift shopping one day. I'm definitely a bargain hunter and I support being original 100%.

Lace!!! And a Peter Pan collar. Ms. Dasher by Design style is defined by vintage clothing, whether it's vintage men's shoes or chunky rings. She doesn't mind mixing up her outfit with girly clothes and menswear to edgy.

I put together this collection of clothing that Erica would wear. She loves to look for multi-purpose pieces. Pieces that go with anything in her wardrobe.

Erica Dasher

Dr. Martens, sport men's loafers, heels, leopard, rings, blazers, baby doll dresses, skinny jeans and more can all be found in her closet. I can't wait to see where she takes her fashion style to next whether it be on screen or behind the scenes.

Make sure to follow me on twitter at @vraifashionlove for the latest updates. For example, my computer was messed up, so I couldn't write in my diary. How would you know that? If you follow me :)

Back To School Classic Inspiration

Well, school starts for me in less than two weeks. I'm excited for my senior year, but then I'll have to think about all the work and applications I'll be filling out and long school days. So I'm trying to avoid looking like the girl in the picture above...

so I have an idea. Maybe some...
will lift my spirits! Besides a picture says a 1000 words and it looks like my little scrapbook finds have a little more to say...

Here's some celebrity back to school fashion inspiration for you. I love Leighton Meester's navy blue skirt. And she's made that bow tie so fashionable, looks way better than how I wore that in my younger years.

Sweaters, Stripes and Sneakers!

Later London

I don't know if you dolls have, but I've been keeping up with the Olympics. Today the closing ceremony will take place and I thought it would only be right if I dedicated this entry for it.

We can all Wear Britain, U 2.

We can all Wear Britain, U 2. by kierstentay0

When I really look at American style, it is much more classic and much less trend-focused than British style is. British fashion has always been noted for its “fearlessness” and are famed for their individual sense of style. The style here is much more casual and comfort-focused. We, American girls just seem to wear simple pieces and make it interesting with the addition of accessories. Something big for Americans is denim, whether it be in pants or jackets. In Britain, the festival look is popular year round which is bed-head hair and vintage-style pieces, which I j'adore. What I also love of the British is that they mix prints, patterns and styles and pull this off effortlessly.
To pull off American style, make sure you are not swayed by trends. American style has to do with being comfortable in your own style. Keep classic pieces in your wardrobe like blazers, white tees and jeans, so you can mix and match without having the need to buy a certain piece to go with an outfit.
To pull of British style, add edgy pieces to your look. British style has an element of punk and gothic added to it. And also have fun with your wardrobe, pair two loud prints together, add studs or bright tights. Brits are fearless. Also, if you are going to London anytime soon make sure you bring an umbrella and edgy rain boots because it rains alot.
What look matches yours? The edgy British or the casual American style? Now go and enjoy the closing ceremony of the Olympics!

Gaga for Baja

True Religion just released their lookbook for Fall 2012. They have a new collection called The Baja Collection. I looked through it, then I found this:
Remember how I was looking for a denim looking button-up shirt? Yup,I was still looking for the right one. This is perfect for me. Not plain like every other one I've seen thus far. I love the way the shoulders are filled with colorful stripes. Too bad True Religion is too pricey for me. I must find this shirt though at an affordable price. I will let you dolls know when my search is over.

Seems like I've been missing you dolls for a while. I thought that this summer I would have so much time to spend on my diary, but I guess not. Lately, I've been taking some classes at NYU since you know my senior year is coming up. And with that said I'm also looking for some blogger interns in fashion and beauty and photography to help me out. I'm still working on the details. But,if you are interested please let me know. (The internship is also not paid, but you still get the benefit of gaining experience and adding it to your resume). I'll let you know when the application is up.

Also, I was awarded with the Liebester Blogger Award by Kassica of  Kassica Life Blog. I'll extend on that in a later diary entry. I have so much to tell you dolls. Just be patient with me.

Amira Says "This is your Ultimate Guide To Style"

I read this book awhile back now among other fashion books that I've been meaning to tell you dolls about. Since summer vacation is around the corner I know we'll all be having a little more free time in our futures. Maybe even enough time to go and pick up Seventeen's Ultimate Guide to Style. If you're at the beach, on the train or even on a plane going to another country this is a must have book.

This is my favorite fashion book that I have read thus far and I've read plenty if there's any indication of how great this book is.

My favorite part of the book is that there's something for everyone in here for any type of style you're going for and it even tells you what store you can shop for these things, also how to where the outfit and examples of other people sporting the style. The styles in this book range from girly, boho, classic, edgy, glam, and even  indie. At the end of the book, they also have a place where they show you what you can wear for your body type.

One hundred and eighty eight pages of style. That must satisfy your hunger for fashion over the summer.

If you live here in New York, I know you can easily pick this book up from the library or get it at a local Barnes & Nobles. Seventeen's Ultimate Guide to Style definitely earns Amira's stamp of approval.

Go Green With Trashion

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. I think we hear those three terms enough. And let's not forget about Go Green. We here all love fashion so I thought why not mash the two together go green with fashion? After all green is the new fashion isn't it?

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Fashion!

What's trashion? Yea, you may think it's just a mixture of trash and fashion together, but you're half right. It's really not trash it's just a way to reuse your old clothes and make new things out of them or even recycle them.

This was from Project Runway. They had a challenge to create a recycled but fashionable outfit.

Newspaper dress, really? Maybe this is not so realistic but it sure does look fabulous.

And you know what's crazy, but then again being from NY crazy things can actually be normal, anyway after I got the idea for this entry I saw a lady with a skirt made out of ties. Cool right?

Even clothes from the past can be used to make cloths or new fabric. So if you don’t wear it you can recycle it like what the girl did with this dress.

I love the three dimensional geometric shapes on this dress.

Even fashion designers are going green making models strut down the runway with recycled outfits.

So here are ways you can take things into your own hands and help the Earth:

You can REDUCE by
  • Learning how to make fashionable clothes last longer:
It's had to keep up with fashion. Just as soon as you fill your wardrobe with all the latest items, you find that the fashion world has moved on to something else. This is called a fad. You can avoid this by just keeping things that are classical in your wardrobe. Don't follow the crowd dare to be different (remember this it was the name of my first diary entry).

Buying into all the lastest trends isn’t good for your wallet or for the environment. So when you want to be environmentally responsible, but still look good, make sure you never buy on impulse, which I actually do a lot and regret sometimes. Save your money for those fashionable items you know you will wear and will look good on you and can last (meaning it has good quality). Fashionable items will always last longer if you truly like them and look good in them. Be honest, how many cute tops do you have that you’ve not worn more than once or twice? I know I have a lot.

You can REUSE & RECYCLE by
  • Giving small clothes to younger siblings or cousins or your friend's little sister
  • Giving unwanted clothes charity or people in need of it
  • Use my DIYS (with the help of the-tip-nerds on polyvore) . Just type design it yourself in the search box. Most of the DIYS require the use of things you might find in your closet or lying around your house.

If you Reduce, Reuse and Recycle then:
  • Clothing & textile recycling reduces the need for landfill space.
  • And remember that synthetic fiber products don't decompose, and because of that it present problems in the landfill and while woolen garments do decompose, they also produce methane which contributes to global warming.
  • Clothing & textile recycling results in less pollution and energy savings.
  • And more benefits will come just try it and see how fabulous trashion is on you and for the environment.

FashCakes

Hmm what are fashcakes you may be wondering. Yea, it's another one of the things Amira Says. Fashcakes in my world are fashion cupcakes. Yes! I didn't think there was a such thing, but there is and they're fabulous! And remember how I was so uninspired, now I am. Yay! Well it would be pretty rude to not share anything of these fashcakes with you so here they are plus some things that may have inspired them:

This is a Louis Vuitton inspired cupcake. Pretty flowers on the side.

Michelle Williams is wearing a Louis Vuitton dress and I feel that this goes perfectly with the cupcake. I love the color on her.

This is a Christian Louboutin inspired cupcake. It looks so dark and mysterious, but it looks like there's something good hidden inside. And I bet there is.

Yes, maybe this may not exactly match the cupcake, but it does include some gold and red. I just had to add these because I love them. They're really high so I probably wouldn't wear them to a party without bringing flats or having somewhere to sit.

This is a Chanel inspired cupcake. I love the presentation especially the pearls.

And this is of course Coco Chanel. Isn't the cupcake perfect for her?

And last but not least, a Betsey Johnson inspired cupcake. This is probably my favorite because of the bright colors. I think that this cupcake really represents her and her collection.

This was a runway show for Betsey's collection and a model rocking a bright pink dress with Betsey's name all over it.

Thanks to Therese Aldgard photography for the fashion cupcakes photos. They look yummy! I would try to make them, but it probably wouldn't look as good.
