Laine Blogger Award (and some secrets)

I'm so excited and happy to announce that I've nominated for my first blogger award: The Laine Blogger Award. It shows me that people actually appreciate what I do. This dahling award was given to me by the lovely Demmy of Uniquely Demmy.

 Upon receiving this award comes some rules. So here they are:
1. Tag the blogger who awarded you. 2. Award five more bloggers. 3. Answer a few questions.

So below are the answers to questions that also let you on into some of my secrets. Enjoy!

  1. What is your current beauty obsession?

 I'm really not the type of person to wear make-up. But, a few months ago if you remember on my wishlist I added Brash roll-on eye shadow. I'm not sure if I told you dolls but I bought it. I have it in gold. I wore it once in my house to see how it would look and I loved it.But, the crazy thing is that I still haven't worn it outside. It's still lying in my drawer. I'm a little hesitant to wear it again, but I'm still obsessed. Don't you buy things and let it just lay around for a long time even though you want to try it? I do that all the time especially with clothes.

  2. What is one beauty item that you wished you owned? I wish I owned Baby Lips. I first saw it in Seventeen Magazine mesmerized by its look, then my friend bought it. I feel like it would be a better fit for me because of the fact that my bottom lip pouts out a little more than my upper lip (which I usually don't like to draw attention to). The colors are not too out there. They're more neutral and they blend. I hope to buy it soon.


3. What kind of posts are your favorite to read and write? I absolutely love outfit posts or just "a day in the life of a blogger" posts where the blogger lets you in on their style and life through pictures. I was going to do that once, but the camera of my phone doesn't have good quality. My family has a camera, but I rather own my own. I don't want to hear their complaints about the battery life of the camera or the memory. After I save up or get a job I'll definitely add that feature to my blog.

  4. What inspired you to become a blogger? Well, I had a computer class freshman year of high school where we were supposed to make a blog, which I did. But, then they switched me out of the class and since there was no need for the blog in school I turned it into a teen entertainment blog. It was not successful so I quit eventually. Then somehow I don't remember exactly why but I decided that it would be fun to share my love of fashion on a blog especially since my parents told me becoming a fashion designer was not a career. So that was the origin of this diary.


 5.What color nail polish are you wearing right now? Right now my nails are bare. Apparently, it's against my religion to wear nail polish (crazy right?). Until recently I've always worn nail polish, but now as I get older I'm trying to take my religion seriously. But, if I were wearing nail polish it would probably be a bright color like orange or yellow (which I've never tried before) or bright pink.

A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach 

Well with only about two weeks of school left for me and the summer coming in I can't but help feel excited especially since my senior year of high school starts soon. All I can think about is being free from those four walls of my school and maybe spend a day at the beach. But, if I'm thinking about spending a day at the beach, don't we have to dress like it? Of course!

First, we need to pack a bathing suit. You have so many choices from designs to colors to style (one-piece, bikinis, etc.). And if you are not willing to bear that much skin you can wear shorts or a sarong poncho or just the sarong and wrap it around your waist. Don't forget to bring flip-flops if you don't want all the sand sticking underneath your feet. I remember two years before when I went to the beach and my feet were burning because the sand was sooo hot from the sun. I wish I wore flip-flops then. But, remember you can always slip out of your flip flops when it's time to go into the water.

You may not actually need nail polish and make-up for the beach, but it will make you stand out. I'm not actually for wearing make-up to the beach since it's going to wash off anyway (unless it's waterproof), but some people would rather have it that way. But, if you decide to wear make-up I say you should try neutral colors. And for nail polish I say go with bright colors. That's what this summer's all about. Stand out.

Fashion Inspiration: Pastels

Lately I've been in love with pastels. I even bought a beige colored lace cardigan and pastel pink jeans, but I really don't have anything great to wear with it. Either way the way others have been wearing it inspires me to create my own outfit. My favorite pastel outfit that I have seen so far was an outfit that consisted of a pink button down shirt and light blue skinny jeans.

This outfit is perfect for a nice spring day outing. Florals are so juicy and I definitely need a small side bag to hold my accessories.

Here are different ways you can rock pastels. You can rock it with a blazer or wear a cute dress. I love the blue blazer though, it's my favorite color.


Colored jeans have been a big trend this Spring, so if you're going to rock the colored jeans trend why not try pastel colors. I usually don't like wearing bright color jeans (even though I tried a bright blue once) so a light color would be perfect for me.

You don't have to wear pastel colored clothes to show how much you love pastels, you can just try some pastel colored make-up. I am a huge fan of this. Like I said before I'm not that into being a traffic sign, bright colors are great but I would prefer this light make-up, especially since I don't wear any make-up. I usually go natural.

Add some color to your nails with light colors. They look great with a pastel themed outfit. I would love to try this color.

If you're not that into pastels you can mix and match them with some bright colors. You'll still look great.

I love this necklace. It's from Charlotte Russe. I also love the fact that it has a gold chain; I love gold! And since it's from Charlotte Russe you know it's affordable.

This shirt is fabulous. It's from Forever 21. I love the color and the fabric is light meaning its great for this weather we're feeling here in New York.

I should go shopping soon and update my wardrobe with some of these funky colors. It's spring break here anyway and the weather is fabulous for these looks right now.

With spring coming soon (yea I have connections with the groundhog) it's time to figure out how you're going to show off those nails. Nicole by Opi has had many colaborations with celebrities for their nail line. So if you want to flaunt your nails like a celebrity this is the entry to read.

Salon Effects or Beauty Supply Store Effects

First time I heard about it (well saw it) was in my friend's Seventeen magazine. Sally Hansen Salon Effects. It looked so cool and nice. They even had the gold nail polish color that I was looking for everywhere. I wanted to buy it ( and plus spring is coming up, so I would start showing my toes soon), but I really didn't pay attention to it until I saw it again in the CVS pharmacy paper. So I decided to look it up online and find out how much it cost because the CVS pharmacy paper didn't say. It just said $2 off. And here's me thinking it wouldn't cost that much. "Hmmm...If it's under $5 I might buy it." When I looked it up it said it cost $14.99. I don't if it's just me or maybe I'm just too cheap. But, I just rather go to the beauty supply store and buy nail polish for under $3. I can reuse again and again. It would last for months. Where as the Sally Hansen Salon Effects last up to ten days. I think I just go to the beauty supply store or maybe just until I start making real money.
