Summer Yellows with Solange

Summer Yellows with Solange

As the sun sets, day and night fight for a share of the summer sky. They agree on an equal share for a period of time and what you have is a beautiful navy ombre scenery that merges with bright yellow remainder of the remnants from the hot summer rays of that morning.

But, they don't only fight for a share in the summer sky, but also in Solange Knowles' outfit and it seems more like yellow is winning. Solange wears yellow a lot, but she doesn't fail to incorporate the navy blue color.

Okay, so let's be honest, I was never of fan of yellow. In fact, I hated it, being that I had to wear the color for three long years in middle school as my uniform. But, yellow is a perfect color for accessories on a late summer night out with the girls.

My favorite accessory is the Steve Madden shoulder bag. You'll always be sure to get noticed with that pop of color and look like a celebrity ( and no one will know you're on a budget)

What's your summer color?

Fashion Inspiration: Going Out West

Most of the time where we live defines our style. And that's why I've always wanted to travel and experience new places and learn how their location defines their style. One place I've always imagined myself is in California. Don't get me wrong, I still love New York. But I also adore Kendall and Kylie Jenner's collection  at Pacsun.

These girls were born and raised in the golden state of California, so they can definitely represent for Cali teens and their fashionable attire. California seems like a place where it Spring or Summer all year round, so as New York starts to transition, that''s where I'll be getting my inspiration from.

Their collection is filled with casual yet chic pieces from accessories to outerwear.

I love the necklace, bandeau top and jeans. They're so fab.

Here are a few pieces I just adore from their new collection:

Sweater Jacket
I really love this sweater jacket, especially the color.  Her hair piece also adds a tribal/boho feel.

House Dress
They say every girl needs a little black dress, so here's one for you. I love the collar  that they added to this dress.

Here's how you can wear it:

Going Out West
Some pieces from the collection are pretty pricey, so if you're on a budget, this is for you. But if you rather shop from the collection, it's available now at Pacsun.

Design It Yourself: Wire Wrapped Jeweled Necklace

Hello dahlings and dolls. If you didn't know this about me, I'll tell you now. I'm an ACCESSORY FREAK, seriously. I have tons and tons of necklaces and bracelets and earrings. But, I only have one problem. Out of those tons, I only wear a few key pieces. But, take me shopping and I'll grab any piece of accessory in sight. So when I saw this DIY project, I just had to share it with you.

wire wrapped jeweled necklace! (:

wire wrapped jeweled necklace!  by the-diy-girls

What you''ll need:
1 Bag of large plastic jewel stones
1 Sheet of plastic canvas
1 Yard of ribbon (local fabric store)
20 gauge wire
Pliers
Scissors
Glue (hot glue)

What to do:

Take your plastic canvas and an 8 inch plate.
Trace around the plate and cut out.
Cut inside your cut out circle to make a 1 inch thick ring.

Start glueing your stones to your plastic canvas. Mix up your colors and shapes. Keep adding until it’s all filled up.
Do not fill up your whole circle. I recommend only going up about half way, other wise it gets too stiff and you wont be able to put it around your neck.

Once you’ve finished glueing on all your stones, you can start wrapping your wire.
Start on the back side and tuck the end of your wire into your plastic canvas and crimp to hold.
Keep wrapping until you’ve wrapped the whole thing.

Take your ribbon and cut it in half.
Glue one end of each piece onto the back of your finished jeweled and wrapped necklace.

This necklace would be a beautiful addition to any girl's jewelry box. And these colors are perfect for the transition we're making from Summer to Autumn.

Cut- It Out

With the summer days soon coming to an end, it's time to finish soaking up some sun with a little peekaboo effect to your clothing. Cut-outs have been a big trend this season, so why not finish it off with some shoulder slits and shape cut outs? So as school starts take out your scissors and snip, snip!

Paper Snowflake Blue Dress
This paper snowflake blue dress is perfect for a summer into fall transition and a night out.I love the royal blue color and the cut outs on the sleeve of the dress, around the neckline and at the bottom of the dress. The geometric peekaboo designs are fabulous. You can find this dress at Lulu's.

Bongo Junior's Slub Colorblock Top at Kmart.com
This Bongo colorblock shirt with a lattice design is sure to stand out in a crowd. Lately I've really been interested in clothing that don't have the regular horizontal and vertical design. I've been looking at interesting diagonal designs. You would know if you saw my polka dot and stripes entry and saw my fabulous find from Brooklyn Industries. You get this fabulous find from Kmart.

Bongo Junior's Distressed Cuff Capri Jeans at Sears.com
Ripped denim capris are sure to help you show some skin before the fall hits us. Distressed/ ripped denim will be a big trend this fall (especially denim). I love the way it looks especially if you have color jeans. I have an army camoflauge verison of this.

                                             Reverse Heart-Back Cutout Dress
This reverse heart back cut out dress is my favorite. For those of you who may not know I am an extreme bargain hunter. This dress is from Urban Outfitters which is an expensive store, but I found this dress for $20. I love the pattern and heart cut out. This dress comes in different patterns and colors.

Hearts & Bows Stud Shoulder T Shirt
This is a Hearts and Bows stud shoulder t-shirt from asos.com. For any who is familiar with this brand you would know that they are about vintage style pieces and creating a cool, street-style grunge girl look. So if you're into this style this would be a perfect classic look for you where you don't have to show too much skin.

I don't know about you dolls, but I definitely plan to soak in the sun before, it gets replaced by a chilly wind.

Barbeque Wear

On Sunday, I attended a family barbeque in this big green grassy park. It was fun (besides the fact that I barely knew anyone-yea they're not close family)! The food was great and it was a hot, bright and sunny day. The event reminded me that it's barbeque season and with July 4th (Independence Day) coming up I know there's going to be alot more, so I created this guide that will probably help you choose what to wear for a summer event.

July 4th: Barbeque Wear

You can pair a tank top with white capris. White capris are always a good look in the summer if you don't plan to roll around in grass and soil. The orange tank top above is from Victoria's Secret and you can get the capris from Aeropostale where they have a wide variety of them. I love the striped tank top that I would describe as somewhat tribal. You can easily pair them with shorts or any other top that you have in your closet. Or you can make things easier for yourself and just find a dress, which means you don't have to go looking around for top and bottom that compliment each other.

We also can't forget that a skirt is always an option. If you don't like your legs cover them with leggings or stockings. You can also go patriotic with the American Eagle red and blue striped top. Don't forget shoes! I love the simple leather braided sandals in the guide. Converses and Vans are also always out there if you rather wear shoes with shoelaces. They are made of thin material and doesn't get as hot as when you wear sneakers.

Since I can't post a picture of what I wore I'll tell you. I wore white/grey splattered distressed skinny jeans with a blue tank top that had layers. Some layers had lace and the others were just solid fabric. I wore a black mini cardigan that stopped above my stomach. I also wore black leopard flats that had a bow on each. I also wore a chained necklace that included grey ribbons to tie it in the back and it had a silver flower among the many chains. Hopefully that description gives you a good idea of what I wore.

Enjoy your fourth of July celebration among other summer events!

Arm Candy

Arm Candy

For some reason I feel that people only actually wear accessories during the spring and summer because in the winter whose actually going to see any accessories through big bulky jackets and the snow. As summer starts to set in more and more  stores are adding sets of colorful bracelets to the shelves. Lately I've been pairing up a bunch of random bracelets together and I love the way it looks. Below are the lovely bracelets I found:

1. Lulus
2. Lulus
3. Delias

4. Aeropostale
5. Aeropostale

1. I love these bracelets so much. Why? Because of the colors. They're so bright. No one can miss. I'm also a fan of gold which these bracelets have a tint of.

2.  Hands down this bracelet is my favorite. I love the fact that it has a gold leaf and the bracelet is tied with brown strings with gold beads that you pull to tighten the bracelet. I had one similar to this, but it broke.

3. This is meant for spring and summer. See the florals? And more bright colors.

4. Vanilla & Crystals! I love the color and the crystals. I can imagine them in the sun gleaming.

5. This is a major trend among bracelets: braided bracelets.

The last day of class for me is next week. So after that I'll be dedicating more time to my diary!

A Day at Play

Today I'm not having such a good day and I'll probably elaborate on why another day, But, despite my bad day, it seems to me that New York is having a great day. The weather is fabulous, so here's a set I created that shows today is a day at play for everyone here. It feels like summer, so why not dress like it. Enjoy and soak up the sun (while it last before there's more rain)!

Amira Says "This is your Ultimate Guide To Style"

I read this book awhile back now among other fashion books that I've been meaning to tell you dolls about. Since summer vacation is around the corner I know we'll all be having a little more free time in our futures. Maybe even enough time to go and pick up Seventeen's Ultimate Guide to Style. If you're at the beach, on the train or even on a plane going to another country this is a must have book.

This is my favorite fashion book that I have read thus far and I've read plenty if there's any indication of how great this book is.

My favorite part of the book is that there's something for everyone in here for any type of style you're going for and it even tells you what store you can shop for these things, also how to where the outfit and examples of other people sporting the style. The styles in this book range from girly, boho, classic, edgy, glam, and even  indie. At the end of the book, they also have a place where they show you what you can wear for your body type.

One hundred and eighty eight pages of style. That must satisfy your hunger for fashion over the summer.

If you live here in New York, I know you can easily pick this book up from the library or get it at a local Barnes & Nobles. Seventeen's Ultimate Guide to Style definitely earns Amira's stamp of approval.

TOMS Ballet Flats Are Here!!

I was thinking about getting the regular TOMS shoes, but then people told me it was a waste of money and they get holes in them easily. But, now that TOMS ballet flats are here,I want both! Especially these flats now. Aren't these fab?

These are my favs. I love the color and the pattern on both!

They're perfect to wear around the city during spring and summer. I can wear them with skinny jeans or skirts and maybe if I was allowed to shorts. I just love these.

Kisses from Amira J muah ( and kisses for these flats too)

Maybe This Will Warm your Winter Up (Spring/Summer Ad Campaigns)

You know the weather here in NYC has been so crazy. One day you think springs here and the next day it's freezing like today. And it hasn't snowed here in NYC since October (which is really weird because it never snows in October). People said there were flurries yesterday and today but I haven't seen them. So yea..today I saw some awesome ad campaigns that I thought I shoudl share with you guys. It warmed me up today with this freezing weather.

JIMMY CHOO Featuring: Magdalena Frackowiak

These two really make a statement. Especially the red bright dress and the heels that go with it. Maybe you'll see me in a picture like this soon fighting over that bag.

Christian Dior feat Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis is so pretty and that bag stands out making its own statement. It could have an ad all by itself.

Gucci

Gucci showing off with both menswear for women and dressy outfits. Love the tie and blazer.

CHANEL Featuring: Joan Smalls & Saskia de Brauw

This is beautiful. I love black and white pictures where you only think about the meaning behind the picture and what is happening instead of the colors.

Do you have a sweet tooth for fashion? Then this is just for you!

Louis Vuitton

Here's something sweet for you guys. Reminds me of the ice cream truck playing music outside during the summer. This is one of my favorite ads.

Mulberry

Filled with ice cream cones, peppermint sticks, and other sugary sweets this ad is sugary sweet! Look at the amazing bags, wedges, florals and stripes and COLORS!

I'm warming up already. XOXO muah love Amira J...
